Who We Are

Acts 17 Apologetics is a ministry dedicated to defending and advancing the truth of Christ's resurrection and its implications for our lives.  It is the case that all of creation proclaims the existence of a beneficent God, and only those given the ability to appreciate Him have chosen to reject.  Acts 17 Apologetics strives to turn people's eyes back to the direction of God -- the True God -- through teaching, preaching, and debating.

Acts 17 Apologetics is the ministry of Nabeel Qureshi and David Wood.  The two have known each other since 2001 when they were on Old Dominion University's Debate and Forensics team.  Since shortly after Nabeel's conversion to Christianity in 2004, the two have been actively engaged in apologetic endeavors, consisting of speeches, sermons, lectures, written articles, and debates.  Below is a little more about each of them individually.

Nabeel Qureshi accepted the Truth in 2005 after years of investigating the origins of Christianity and Islam.  Formerly a Muslim, Nabeel was led to Christ through a series of visions and dreams.  A link to his testimony can be found in the "Links" section of this website.

Currently, Nabeel is enrolled at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and is in his third year of obtaining his Medical degree.  He is also enrolled at Biola University, where he is finishing his modular Masters in Apologetics.

Nabeel enjoys spreading the Gospel through preaching at local churches, speaking at public venues, debating formally and informally, as well as just participating in dialogue.  Currently he is engaged in a written debate which is tentatively going to be published in early 2008.

When not doing work for his apologetics ministry or medical school, Nabeel is usually found with his family, at the gym, enjoying photography, or practicing on his guitar.

David Wood is a former atheist. He became a Christian in 1996 after examining the evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus. His life was completely turned around, and he has been involved in Christian apologetics ever since.

David is currently a Teaching Fellow at Fordham University, where he is also pursuing his PhD in philosophy. His undergraduate emphases at Old Dominion University were in Biology and Philosophy.

David is spreading the truth of Christianity through speaking, debating, and writing. His focuses include: Islam, the Problem of Evil, and the Resurrection of Jesus.  Links to his other websites can be found under the "Links" tab at the top of this page.

When David isn't speaking, writing, or working on his doctorate, he is usually spending time with his wife Marie and their three sons: Lucian, Blaise, and Reid.
