Fact-Checking Sam Harris 2: Did Jesus Command Christians to Kill in Luke 19:27?

Sam Harris claims that Jesus ordered his followers to kill his enemies in Luke 19:27. But is this what the text says? Only if we ignore the fact that the command is part of a story that Jesus is telling, and that it's a king in the story who issues this command. Can we take the leaders of the "new atheist" movement seriously when they make such blunders?

  4. *** GOD examines deception of his most Holy Word , even mistaken ,or confused deception of his most Holy Word ( Sam ) ,and restores its TRUTH and belief with his GREATER wisdom , vouchsafed to his most Vigilant Children **** ... That's exceedingly Good David that you helped Sam remember THE TRUTH OF GOD , which as you well know is ***GOD IS LOVE*** , and there is NO LOVE in KILLING one another ..... ***** GOD LOVES THE TRUTH , so he likes telling it , and THE TRUTH has POWER ! , because it can MAKE someone LOVE YOU , or HATE YOU , or HURT YOU , or HEAL YOU , so THE TRUTH has POWER , and it MUST be told ,,, so whoever holds THE TRUTH of GOD (LOVE) in their hearts FOREVER, then holds THE POWER of GOD in them FOREVER , which means THEY LAST FOREVER , and can DELIVER it FOREVER .....
and THAT ! , as you well know David is THE TRUTH of THE TRUTH .... To David Wood , with the TRUE blessings of JESUS CHRIST , and THE LOVE of Humanity FOREVER ,,, from Graham Wood :-) "G" that's ME , who's saying such :-)

  5. David Wood, sincere questions here: Trying to choose an English version of the Quran to read - which one would you suggest? Want it to be a legit translation that is at least somewhat respected by Muslims (as an English translation). Also, steer me toward a decent translation of the Hadith. I assume these are two good primary doc starting points for someone who's trying to converse intelligently with others on the subject of Christianity and Islam.

    1. I'd go with the Hilali-Khan translation.

    2. Thanks for asking David about where to start with this literature, Rob. Had that same question, but also wish there was some kind of 'crash course, speed reading, book club'. Knowing bits and pieces doesn't seem enough when trying to debate, because it will be obvious the comments are cherry picked and I'm not familiar with the texts. I could be accused of taking a statement out of context both of the text and the culture. God's Perfect Messenger should be able to stand the test of time, and I'd like to build up a solid argument based on a comparison of Jesus and Mohammed on core quality-of-life issues. Some of the areas that would shed light are: marriage, adultery, divorce, treatment of women, treatment of children, treatment of those who believe differently, and how God is to be worshipped. I'm not too worried about which passages represent Christ's words and actions, but my only familiarity with Muhammed are the passages I've heard David quote and debates I've watched. Don't feel right referencing a book I've never even opened. Are there books on tape? Lol. Though honestly, I do a lot of learning by audio these days. Reading confined to work commutes....

  8. David God will keep upholding you and strengthen you. Jesus will never forsake you. Am from Nigeria and I almost had a fight with a Muslim who kept on trying to mock the Bible and Jesus. I was so furious because I knew little about the Bible but had no knowledge of the Koran. Watching your YouTube video "3 verses of the Koran every Christian must know has really help me take a better stand at point how false Islam and Mohammed is. God bless you more. I really wish i had enough money to bring you down to Nigeria just to speak and educate Christians more, it would have been superb.

Please keep the fire burning and let's keep standing for Christ Jesus. Amen

  9. Sam Harris also interrupts Matthew 5:17 as Jesus instructing his followers that they ought to fulfill every jot and tittle of the law, perhaps you can do a video on this and call it 'Fact Checking Sam Harris #3' :)
